Council By-election results: a warning for Labour, Conservatives up and Reform UK higher than ever

By-elections whether in general or local elections are not always the best indicator of how popular a party actually is.

The results though of the local by-elections since the July General Elections have still been in most cases in favour of the Conservatives, the Lib Dems and Reform UK.

Nigel Farage’s party, often inexistent in most local councils has come first in two local council by-elections and got often two digit scores in several other councils.

These results may well be a proof that the popular support for Labour at GE2025 was indeed quite weak and has worsened since Keir Starmer arrived in power.
